I consider Stuff to essentially be another statistic, with its range limited from +5 to -5.

It is a combination of personal luck and reputation.

Lastly, I attempt to play Stuff (Bad Stuff especially) as something which affects the character possessing it only, not as something which will affect the whole party. This hopefully makes the possession of Bad Stuff (for example) something which screws up the character, not the party.
