Wish List

The wish list is an ordered collection of your goals when it comes to spending points. What follows is a bit of info on wish lists. After people get the hang of it this page will be used to keep track of points given out.

Basically it will work like this. I will ask for a wish list to a certain number. (Wish List to 5. Wish List to 12. Wish List to 75). The amount of points will vary depending on several factors. I will state an amount that is higher the amount I plan to grant for the most active player. Everyone then has a week to give me a list of the things they would spend points on in order. If lists are not sent in, then I will store points as good stuff to a maximum of 5, then just store it unspent. Players who do not spend points can not spend them till the next time wish lists are called for. A good idea is to send me a general wish list as a default.

Points will be granted for group games, individual games, player contributions such as stories, changes in web page status & contents, Non-gm participating RP when duly reported to me, and pretty much anything else my arbitrary, capricious, and steeped in vice, but not unfair, mind can conceive of.

Everyone should submit a Wish List. Even if you did not play. I will give at least one point to everyone at the time I run wish lists even if they did not play. Just because a player is not active does not mean their character is doing nothing. For example; Zachary is running his circus in Amber these days. People attend it, in great numbers, including elders, cousins, nobility, and foreign dignitaries. Certainly his mother Flora is there, on a regular basis. Even if no one interacts with him it does not mean Zachary is not running his circus in Amber everyday. It does mean he will only get one point. So if you are not able to play for a time, do not feel your character is being ignored or left behind. If you can't play for a couple months, you can have your character run off by themselves in shadow. While there they live, visit tourist attractions, get involved in petty squabbles, and little wars, and basically do one point of living. Learn a point worth of some skill, something.

A maximum of 5 points can be stored in good stuff but remember that good stuff confers luck and diminishes the number of points gained during play. Two characters, one with 3 good stuff & one with 3 points of bad stuff, who share all the same games and point gaining activities will get different amounts of points in the wish list. This is due to the danger and bashing they take because bad stuff causes one to be considerably more at risk.

Store extra points in skills, advancements & powers you hope to acquire. You won't gain the use of them but your intention will be clear. Remember that Wish Lists also show what you do with your time. If you plan to put points into Warfare, then your character is spending his free time reading stratagy guides, taking fencing lessons, or visiting combative shadows. Strength means you are doing weight lifting. Endurance means long distance running, triathlons, marathons, and such activities. Sorcery & conjuration can be bought in 5 point increments to show development of a skill, or bought all at once.

Skill show how much spare time you spend obsessing about something. Keep in mind that skills tell me what you spend a majority of your spare time doing. Vance has Baseball for 2 points. So he spends a lot of time hitting in the batting cages, fielding pop ups, or honing his pitching. Truman has 2 points in Guitar. This means if you bump into him he is likely to be playing a guitar.

A wish list also has to include how many points of Bad Stuff you are willing to accrue to get something on the list. If you have asked to put 5 in Sorcery on your list, and the amount of points I award gives out after 3 points, are you willing to take 2 points of bad stuff to finish off the 5. Good stuff will be automatically spent to fill out a listed item unless you specifiaccly say not to spend any good stuff to fill out an item.

The wish list should be set up as follows.

Suppose I have asked for a Wish list to 20.

So Vance's list looks like this:

Psyche +2 to 7, 4 points to Armor, Warfare +1 to 52, 10 to conjuration. 1 point of Good Stuff. Willing to take no Bad Stuff, extra points stored in conjuration.

So now I award Vance 17 points. 15 for play, 2 for character stories.

He receives the 2 points to bring his psyche to 7. He acquires the suit of fine Mithril chainmail the armorer in Amber has been making for him, he raises his Warfare to match Doria's 52 first Rank, puts 10 points in conjuration for a total of 17. He has none left for good stuff. Poor guy.

Suppose Truman's list looks like this.

Strength +10 , 2 in guitar, 1 in Motorcycle, 1 in Aircraft, 5 in Trump. Store 1 in good stuff & store extra in Trump. Willing to take 3 Bad Stuff.

Now I award Truman 15 points; 12 for play, 2 for stories, 1 for a play list of 50 songs that they frequently play at The Richmond, maybe even a url for a good MP3 site I could find these at.

He gets 10 points for Strength, and being First Ranked he goes boldy into the elders ranks of stats, chasing after his dad Gerard. He has become maniacal about his guitar and goes up 4 points in Guitar meaning he nearly always is either strumming his guitar of fondling it. His Motorcycle skill goes to 2 so he can out ride Bleys. Having had a great day learning how to fly the P38 Mustang WWII airplane with Random, he now is really good at it with one point.

Now is the trouble. He wants to put 5 in trump, working to learn to make trumps. He has 1 point left. Assume he has 3 points of good stuff. He now spends 3 points of good stuff, takes one point of bad stuff, and puts 5 in Trump.

Suddenly finding himself with a point of bad stuff startles him. Had he put the trump before Aircraft I might have left him 3 points of good stuff, and ended his wish list with 15.

Clearly the wish list is very important. I will keep copies of your wish lists on your character sheet.

I will be sending you a URL for a personal page. Don't share it. I will keep a list of your wish lists and points awarded on this page. It is easier for me this way to run a running total then to send individual emails.
